claire's journey
i start trying the wai diet 6 days ago. my goals are to improve my health and lose 6kgs. i also would like clearer and softer skin. i am trying to following the strict diet, but i have had 4 days of doing so and 1 day with added potato chips and one day with added smoked salmon and a dark chocolate bar. i am also trying to build up a walking habit, which i am finding to be a pleasure.
before starting my skin was very dry. i was carrying extra water weight and easily caught colds. i was attempting a low fat raw vegan diet for 6 months - this went wonderfully for a month, but slowly i started to crave protein and fat this was overwhelming the last 3 months and i gained all the weight i lost back plus some. i knew i was on the wrong track, but wanted to stay raw and felt i needed some animal products and that's how i found this diet.
now after 6 days my skin is very soft. i have broken out a bit (but its not large pimples just little ones) and i've heard that that's very normal in the first week. i have lost a little water weight, but i am not planning on weighing or measuring myself until i manage 2 weeks of the strict diet incl. 2 hrs daily walking. i am currently more energetic than i have been in the past 3 months.

after my last post i had a 2 small 'banana salads' each consisting of 2 small bananas, about 3T dried coconut, 1T olive oil and 1T coconut oil. the time between the 2 salad was about 30 mins. I started to feel naseaus immediately after the second salad and have thrown up a couple of times since (this is one of my digestive issues... that happens about 3x a week - i've had the naseau a couple of years now and am seeing a specialist, but the cause isn't known). it also seems like i didn't digest any of the orange juice + olive oil i had this morning. i am thinking that i just can't handle all the fat. how can i best apply the wai diet if i try limiting fat intake?

i didn't mean to burden you guys with my problem - i just had to ventilate. i know that too much fat makes me sick, but i also know that if i eat low fat (raw vegan or just vegan) i don't feel well either (dry skin, low energy, cravings for fat/protein and when i eat them i get naseous). i am just trying to find a balance in diet that will prevent naseau and help me get healthy again. i just looked through my own journal of the past weeks and it seems that days with > 30% fat i get naseous. i also have had no problems at all with egg yolks i guess i need to keep experimenting - so tommorrow 3L juice (no oil), 2x3 egg yolks and 2 avocados - enough calories but only about 30% fat and see how that goes.
You can perfectly consume way less fat. all you need to do, is to focus even more on consuming some energy very frequently. The less fat you consume, the more frequent your 'meals' need to be, simply because you rely more on just one sourch of energy, that cannot be increased (spiking blood sugar levels), but can be ingested more frequently.claireelis wrote:...1T olive oil and 1T coconut oil.... i am thinking that i just can't handle all the fat. how can i best apply the wai diet if i try limiting fat intake?
You can consume as little fat as you want/need. Additional fat just makes this diet easier.
Try adding just a few drops of oil and make sure to consume some energy very frequently, and see how that works...
Just experiment.

You are not holding a gun against my head...
Its me who choses to answer you.
Well, just the change from vegan to non-vegan may be all that you need, since also the yolks and fish contain substantial amounts of fat.i also know that if i eat low fat (raw vegan or just vegan) i don't feel well either
The oil prevents gastric reflux from consuming lots of pure juice. So, maybe you could try adding just a few drops to your juice?i guess i need to keep experimenting - so tommorrow 3L juice (no oil), 2x3 egg yolks and 2 avocados - enough calories but only about 30% fat and see how that goes.
Then you can work out how much you need and how much you can cope with...

RRM thanks for the advice. OJ and also OJ with oil haven't gone well the past few days. I've been juicing apples with veggies (cucumber, celery or carrot) and having vegetable bouillon in order to through the nasea. eating hasn't gone successfully yet, but i am getting better as i was able to have 2 egg yolks today
i am glad to know that its possible to do this diet with lower fat - the high fat does seem to trigger getting ill for me. so what i understand is that its important to keep the blood sugar at a constant level and if there isn't any fat to keep the sugars in the bloodstream longer, then you have to consume sugars more often.

With oil added its easier, but with very little fat its still very much possible; it just takes more effort and focus.
