Electrical juice press = good investment

Post by andyville »

I'm probably the last one to realize this, but in case anyone doesn't know - getting an electrical juice press is absolutely crucial to make the Wai diet practical. I bought my citrus press yesterday for $30, and it works perfectly. The whole process of juicing the oranges is much, much faster with the machine, and I get a lot more juice out of the oranges. $30 well spent for any Wai follwer, in my opinion.

best juicer for OJ

Post by johndela1 »

I've been looking at juicers. I have a cheap Oster. It is the kind that you press (with your hand) the half orange on and it spins. I've seen juicers that have no motor and are presses.

I want the best juicer. I am ready to spend what ever I need to. Any recommendations?

I am considering these:

http://www.discountjuicers.com/orangexcommercialb.html
http://www.discountjuicers.com/orangexhouseholdb.html (which seems similar to the above)

http://www.discountjuicers.com/lpress.html
http://www.discountjuicers.com/citruspower.html

The http://www.discountjuicers.com/orangexcommercialb.html seems to be the best to me.

I wouldnt know. I have an electric one now, and before that, I used a simple plastic juicer where your hand does all the work.

If you use ripe oranges, most are completely fine to hand-squeeze into a container. For example, ripe Honeybells and Valencias are pliable enough for one to be able to expend all juice manually, by hand. I've been doing this for about 2 months now, while it was tough at first, it is very simple and easy. No messy cleanup either, just wash your hands. :)

I bought an OrangeX this weeked. It was $139.00. It is super heavy duty. It gets way more juice than my electric citrus juicer. It is much less effort, too. I am really happy about my purchase and look forward to drinking a lot more OJ. I used to not drink as much OJ as I would have liked because I didn't like juicing with my electic and pressint the oranges with my hand on the spinning thing. The press gets more juice with much less effort and is easy to clean.

I used to rely on tea (green, white, black, red) with sugar for a lot of my calories because I was a bit lazy to juice with my old juicer.

Imported from another thread:
Seth wrote:RRM, are you still using the Santos juicer? If so, have you been happy with it so far? I am seriously considering getting one. I wonder which of the two models to get: http://citrusjuicers.livingright.com/it ... 01tq97tu35
or
http://commercialjuicers.livingright.co ... er-10.html

Any thoughts?
Ive got the second one, and im a very staisfied customer; its a solid piece of work. I prefer the second one because of the grip; it allows you to get more juice from the orange.

I am very pleased with my philips centrifugal juicer. It is called Philips HR1861. It juices oranges, apples, pears, grapes, kiwi and most other fruits (except bananas and avocado) plus most vegetables.

I ended up getting the jack lalanne one at costco and it works very efficiently. I am pleased with its performance. All I need now is a citrus press and I'll be good. Also, maybe a water distiller later after I save up...

cool congrats :) i peel my citrus fruits with a sharp knife and toss them in my centrifugal juicer - they come out really tasty. it actually doesn't take much time a little more cutting a lot less pressing ;) good luck to you!

Juicers; RaChand

Post by djkvan »

I've had it with my juicer. It's a piece of crap electric Black and Decker Citrus Mate. It takes way to long to juice oranges for my day as you have to keep cleaning it every two oranges or so. I spent almost 1.5 hrs today and got less that 2L of juice! I was dogging it a bit, but still. C'mon!

So I ordered a RaChand 210 model citrus juicer yesterday and can't wait to get it. It's a tabletop, arm-action, manual press with a framework made of cast aluminum. Serious sh**! It's gonna give me some dry orange skins and I won't have to dick around with cleaning out the catch tray all the freaking time, not to mention sieving. Sometimes the simplest devices are the most effective (I hope).

Thanks, panacea. I researched the Orange-X but got a good price ($140 shipping included) on the RaChand. I saw a medium sized Olympus unit at a local store. It wasn't large enough and they wanted $200!

I wasn't able to find anything locally of equal quality or price (no citrus grown in Canada  ).
