no i dont doubt the emollient properties of lipids what i did doubt was sebums overall contribution to skin health,etc. based on these studies and based on the tons of people who had this sebaceous gland removal performed in korea who have had nothing but good reports so far. there are other important factors to consider like skin oils, collagen production, etc. as wellI thought that you claimed that lipids are not protective?
(and even that there is no use for sebum at all; nature got it wrong)
Many scientists believe sebum is just an evolutionary remnant of when humans had fur since its uses are well known in furry animals yet havent been (probably wont be) found in modern humans
