Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
I would like to reduce my fish intake (because I can't find unpolluted ones where I live), so I would like to supplement with some amino acids. I usually take 140 gr of salmon per day. If I could stop completely (and just eat maybe once a week) or reduce at 60 gr per day, it would be great.
How should I do ? Should I take an amino acids complex or should I add just some amino acids to the methionine and phenylalanine I'm already taking ?
By the way, about denaturing protein: denaturing refers to the attractions (bonds) between amino acids, not the amino acids themselves. So does it mean that heated amino acids aren't denatured and can't cause acne ?
Thanks

Fish is not just protein, but a whole bunch of other nutrients as well, including vitamin E, D and omega 3 fats.Rivera wrote:I would like to reduce my fish intake (because I can't find unpolluted ones where I live), so I would like to supplement with some amino acids. So, amino acids cannot replace fish.
At best, amino acids can be a useful supplement to your diet.
Supplements cannot replace (essential elements of) your diet.
By many people, including many health professionals, denaturation is seen as the only effect of heating.By the way, about denaturing protein: denaturing refers to the attractions (bonds) between amino acids, not the amino acids themselves. But from numerous scientific studies we know better.
There is a whole array of intermolecular reactions that originate a whole bunch of new compounds,
of which some of them are extremely harmful.
And yes, that includes hydrophilic molecules that are relatively hard to decompose,
so yes, heating amino acids will result in acne if you are acne-prone.

I mean for the proteins content. So I don't lose muscles.RRM wrote:Fish is not just protein, but a whole bunch of other nutrients as well, including vitamin E, D and omega 3 fats.

Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
I know that you mean for protein content,
but if you replace all fish for supplementary amino acids,
you will miss out on various nutrients, even if you just want those amino acids for their protein.

Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
Yes but loss of these nutrients won't cause muscle loss. It's what I'm trying to prevent nowRRM wrote:I know that you mean for protein content,

Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
Actually, many of these nutrients are essential in processing dietary amino acids / protein,
so yes, they are essential for maintaining muscle mass.
so yes, they are essential for maintaining muscle mass.
Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
yes, but I don't have choice anyway. So which amino acids should I add ?RRM wrote:Actually, many of these nutrients are essential in processing dietary amino acids / protein,

Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
Living on supplements is not an option.Rivera wrote:yes, but I don't have choice anyway. So which amino acids should I add ?
They may only supplement your food, not replace it.
And yes, there are other options.
There are always eggs available, anywhere, and im sure that in the area where you live, also some of the fish are low in pollutants.
Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
I don't know why but you seem reluctant to answer me.RRM wrote:Living on supplements is not an option.Rivera wrote:yes, but I don't have choice anyway. So which amino acids should I add ?

Where I live, I can't find unpasteurized eggs. So bad cholesterol.
Come on, regarding the amino acids, which ones should I add ? I'm not starving myself from food, just removing or extremely reducing fish consumption.
Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
Its quite simple.Rivera wrote:I don't know why but you seem reluctant to answer me.
the Wai diet is about real food, not about supplements.
Supplements can never replace whole foods.
How about fish?Where I live, I can't find unpasteurized eggs. So bad cholesterol.
Beef?
The Wai diet is animal food plus fruits.I'm not starving myself from food, just removing or extremely reducing fish consumption.
Leaving out the animal food is leaving the Wai diet behind.
Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
But in the past, you did propose some amino acids for people who really needed them.RRM wrote:Its quite simple.

Fish, I just told you it's too risky, they are too much polluted. How about fish?
Beef?
Beef, it's cooked and not organic. Full of antibiotics and things like these. I don't think it's better.

There are many different fish, and the pollution levels differ very much.Fish, I just told you it's too risky, they are too much polluted.
What makes you think that all fish are heavily polluted?
There is plenty of organic raw beef on the market.Beef, it's cooked and not organic.
Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
The ones I have access to, are. Besides, my choice is only limited to raw tuna (mercury) or raw farmed salmon (which is very polluted). Eating these once a week, maybe ok. Everyday, no way. There are many different fish, and the pollution levels differ very much.

Not where I live. I found none. Besides, there are risks eating raw beef. There is plenty of organic raw beef on the market.
I guess it's useless to ask, obsiously you won't give me any advice on this. I'll just buy a multi-amino and that's it.
Re: Already taking methionine; whats the next step?
The strength of this site / diet is to simply give your body everything it needs to function optimal way, neither more nor less. It is normal RRM/WAI as creator of this diet not recommend long-term supplements including replacements for animals, because he never speculates and gives always humbly facts. Always in order that the body receive everything they need.
However, if you live in an area or unfortunately you can perfectly follow this diet it is very regrettable but also surprising (although I do not know the area or you are). But there are always solutions such as alternating fish and raw egg yolk (organic) or raise raising outdoors. You can also invest in research of poissenerie (take the car if required) and to the road 1-2 times a week and buy the whole fish then and you freeze and cut a slice for each day until the end. Again the egg yolk is a solution available anywhere today .... (except extreme course). Brazil nuts fresh order online. Always solutions, But supplements are not a I think, at least not in the long term.
